About Roger Dubuis

Audacity, excellence, technical sophistication

More than just a Manufacture, Roger Dubuis reflects a world all its own.

A world where exuberance rules and creativity reigns supreme. It is a resolutely extravagant, rebellious and elegant brand, worthy of the best in Haute Horlogerie. For innovation is born from a heartfelt respect for tradition and craftsmanship.

The story of Roger Dubuis is primarily one marked by dazzling success.

The company was founded in 1995 through a partnership between a talented master watchmaker – Roger Dubuis – and Carlos Dias, a brilliant designer.

With remarkable dynamism, Roger Dubuis soon ignited the world of Haute Horlogerie. Striking a fine balance between traditional watchmaking expertise and avant-garde design, its timepieces immediately made their mark.

In 2012, the Roger Dubuis Manufacture, which was founded in 1995, has been given a new face that makes the entire team very proud.

The brand's enormous creativity is reflected in the worlds of five distinct characters: the elegant player of the "La Monégasque" collection, the powerful warrior of the "Excalibur" collection, the modern venturer of the "Pulsion" collection, the sophisticated diva of the "Velvet" collection, naturally gravitating around the fifth element represented by the “Incredible Mechanics” of the Hommage collection.

Roger Dubuis is not simply a designer of daring, highly creative concepts in watchmaking, it is the only Manufacture whose entire production is certified with  the Geneva Seal, the ultimate recognition of exceptional quality.

In the strict tradition of Fine Watchmaking, all the components of our 31 exclusive movements are finished and decorated by hand.

A Roger Dubuis watch is a bold choice. It demonstrates confidence and the wish to affirm your own personality without fear or compromise.

The Manufacture

A fully integrated Manufacture: the strength of Roger Dubuis

Inaugurated in 2001, this spectacular building featuring glass walls reflects the timepieces made within: an audacious and confident exterior that houses complex and sophisticated mechanisms.

At Roger Dubuis, function is not developed before form, nor form before function: the two go hand in hand and are developed in parallel. This is the strength of the totally integrated Manufacture, which makes it possible to design individual movements to fit each shape of watch, be it round, square or rectangular. One would expect nothing less from Haute Horlogerie.

The Manufacture has also taken a remarkable step forward in managing to create its own escapements, including the balance spring. Aside from the prestige that this earns Roger Dubuis, this in-house mastery of such highly complex expertise guarantees total independence and absolute exclusivity for its movements. Such know-how is the privilege of a mere handful of authentic Manufactures.

Technical and aesthetic challenges

Devoted to the creation of genuinely unique timepieces

The Manufacture Roger Dubuis embodies an alliance between extraordinary craftsmen and ultra-sophisticated machines. All Roger Dubuis movements are exceptional objects made up of several hundred components meticulously finished by hand, in the spirit of Geneva’s great watchmaking tradition – as is duly guaranteed by the Hallmark of Geneva stamped on each Roger Dubuis movement.

Each calibre is also assembled and adjusted by hand by over fifty watchmakers employed in the Manufacture’s workshops. Each of these extremely complex movements require weeks of delicate work, which is monitored and carried out by a highly qualified and experienced watchmakers.

The whole range of timepiece complications is mastered in-house, including Roger Dubuis specialities such as the double flying tourbillon, as well as skeleton movements which have opened up a new contemporary avenue for this ancient area of expertise. And that is what makes all the difference.

Leather straps

Roger Dubuis respects the principles of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Roger Dubuis uses exotic animal skins for leather bracelets. These are regulated on the international level through the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

The goal of this Convention is to ensure that the international trade of wild animal and plant species does not threaten the survival of the species to which they belong. To do this, a system of permit has been put in place. In order to be exported, imported and re-exported , skins must be accompanied by a permit issued by the competent authority of the country of departure.

For Roger Dubuis, this agreement mainly concerns the marketing of watches with alligator straps.

IOSW

Roger Dubuis's partnership with the IOSW

The ever-increasing demand for luxury watches translates into a growing demand for qualified craftsmen and women to service these products. To help meeting this demand, the Institute of Swiss Watchmaking was founded in 2008 by Richemont to provide dedicated, career-minded individuals with the education and training to become a part of this exciting profession.

Three schools based in Dallas (NAIOSW - North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking), Hong-Kong (HKIOSW - Hong Kong Institute of Swiss Watchmaking) and Shanghai (CNIOSW – China Institute of Swiss Watchmaking) were opened between 2009 and 2011. These schools prepare students for the internationally recognized WOSTEP certification, a symbol of "Swiss made" excellence in this field.

Roger Dubuis's partnership with the IOSW is a valuable complement to its training policy. The goal is to develop and maintain, on a worldwide basis, a combination of know-how and expertise in the field of high-end watchmaking that will enable the brand to offer its customers high-quality local service.
